Explore the Village with Monsey Bus
Posted on 2020-07-16As part of our New York charter bus deal, we’ve previously highlighted some of New York’s most famous tourist destinations as well as local hangouts to check out in Brooklyn. This week, we’ll be looking at one of Manhattan’s most beloved neighborhoods: Greenwich Village.
But there’s more to the Village than just Washington Square Park. Like the East Village, which has been a destination for decades thanks to its hip, gritty aesthetics, active nightlife and enviable selection of food. Head to St. Mark’s Place to find some of that amazing cuisine, like Dumpling Man‘s traditionally made dumpling bar, or check out Sarita’s Macaroni & Cheese on East 12th.
Keep walking east to find Alphabet City and Tompkins Square Park, which has shed its seedy reputation in recent years to become a popular hangout for crust punks and the upper crust both. Or head west to Greenwich Village to visit some of New York’s most popular clubs and bars, like the alt-comedy staple The Comedy Cellar and dance club-cum-performance space Le Poisson Rouge.
Past Sixth Avenue, the West Village is the place to go to satisfy your more bourgeois desires. Visit Left Bank Books on 8th Avenue and Bleecker Street Records, recently pushed off of Bleecker to its new home on West 4th Street. Or take to the Hudson River Park where you can walk, bike or just lie in the grass with a book beside the Hudson River.
