Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, IL
Posted on 2020-07-16Summer’s here and you know what that means: music festival season is upon us once again. Having already kicked off in Austin with spring’s South By Southwest, music festivals are about to be kicked into high gear in June, July and August. Though it’s a relatively new festival, Chicago’s Pitchfork Music Festival has already become a major contender. Taking place in Union Park the weekend of July 19th to the 21st, Pitchfork Fest includes not just big names of the indie music world but also a record fair for vinyl hunters, a gig poster market, an indie publishing showcase and even a craft fair.
But it’s the shows themselves people come from all around the country and the world to see, and this year’s lineup won’t disappoint music fans. Here’s a few of the acts you can expect to see:
Björk: This Icelandic artist has been a career musician since 1977, and she can still bring it with gorgeous vocals and unconventional song structures.
R. Kelly: Truly a man who needs no introduction, R. Kelly’s track record as consummate R&B crooner is unmatchable.
Belle & Sebastian: Carrying on the tradition of bands like the Smiths and Fleetwood Mac, this Irish band seamlessly matches melancholy lyrics with upbeat pop music and intricate orchestration.
Yo La Tengo: This New Jersey-based band has been a lynchpin in the indie music scene for close to 30 years and hasn’t slowed down a bit.
