The Best Wine Holidays
Posted on 2020-07-16If you’re a wine lover but can’t get to Tuscany or the Loire Valley at the moment, fear not. There’s plenty of great wine getaways to experience right here in the U.S. Assemble a group of friends and hop on a New York charter bus to enjoy some of these beautiful vineyards.
Napa Valley, California: America’s most famous and visited viticultural area is considered one of the premier wine regions in the entire world. Napa Valley, located in Norther California outside Sacramento, features the Mediterranean climate and hilly geography perfect for growing wine grapes. You could spend months exploring the many wineries found here, but start with Frog’s Leap, Schramsberg Vineyards or O’Brien Estate Winery.
Portland, Oregon: This Pacific Northwest paradise knows how to appreciate the finer things in life, from coffee to food, beer and, yes, even wine. While there’s plenty of great wine bars in the city proper, just a short drive southwest will take you to any number of wineries, including the Cooper Mountain Vineyards, Amity Vineyards and Argyle Winery.
Charlottesville, Virgina: About six hours southwest of New York, Charlottesville is decidedly a small town, but one that is nonetheless steeped in history and full of attractions, including more than its fair share of wineries. Check out Blenheim Vineyards, Pippin Hill Farm and Keswick Vineyards, among many others in the area.
